IT is a horror movie based on what kids are afraid of. Personally IT is my favorite horror movie, I love the jump scare aspect of the movie as it kept me hooked the whole way through. I also love history behind the movie as it was a book before it was a movie. The conventions of the movie were good as it shows a town where everything seems perfect but there is a creepy and strange side to it.

Don't breathe is a horror movie about three young criminals that brake into a blind mans house to steal money. I personally think that Don't breath is a good movie with conventions that work well. Firstly it is set in a dark area of a neighbor hood which foreshadows that something bad is going to happen because of the colours that are used. It also has a creepy aspect to show that the home invasion is not going to plan and the old man is not as harmless as they thought.
Genres a style of music, film or literature. Genre sets a tone for what tone and emotion are included in the film, music or literature. The horror genre: Horror is a genre with a certain aspect to make it scary. Firstly the setting is a big thing in horror as it needs to be in a isolated and dark environment. Secondly the camera angles in horror movies can impact how scary the scene is in a movie. Like using a low camera angle when a psychopath is using his knife, this makes that character look scary and have more power. Thirdly, sound has a big impact and makes the the horror movie scary. Like when there is a jump scare they add shocking music behind to scare the audience. Often in horror movies colours like black and red associate with blood and evil. Also objects like knifes, masks and religious icons are commonly used in horror.
On the first week of researching for our horror film we researched into into different types of camera angles. With this information, we could take it and put it into our work. I think this helped because the different camera angles helped create different types of moods throughout the short film. A few that we used wen filming were Low angle shot, Over the shoulder shot, Zoom shot etc.
